I was excited to test the ChefsTemp Finaltouch X10. It generated a lot of buzz on YouTube when it launched, so we were eager to evaluate one in our test kitchen. The X10 has a distinct design—while it’s not my absolute favorite (that goes to the Typhur InstaProbe) it does stand out visually. There are six features that make the Finaltouch X10 notable: speed, probe rotation, magnets, hold button, waterproofing, and price. Having all of these in one instant-read thermometer is uncommon. The question is: does the X10 deliver on all of them?

Final Verdict
The ChefsTemp Finaltouch X10 is an excellent value. It packs a lot of useful features into an affordable package, and you’ll be hard-pressed to find an instant-read thermometer with this combination of attributes at the same price.
Performance
Accuracy
The Finaltouch X10 responds quickly and proved accurate in our tests, including ice-bath calibration and real-world grilling. If you ever need to fine-tune it, there’s a calibration button in the battery compartment. I hope calibration isn’t necessary, but having that option provides extra peace of mind.

Display
The X10 uses a backlit LCD with large, clear numbers that make it very easy to read. In my experience it’s easier to read than some competing models, though not quite as bright as the top-tier displays like the Typhur InstaProbe. The screen rotates 180° quickly, which works well for most situations. However, because the probe rotates up to 270°, a display that rotated in 90° increments would be even more versatile.

Probe
The 270° probe rotation is a standout feature and makes the X10 suitable for both left- and right-handed users. That range of motion is rare among instant-read thermometers and gives you flexible probe placement when checking temperatures. The probe tip is protected when closed: it nests into a rubberized groove and a finger notch makes it easy to open the probe for the next reading.

Magnets
The Finaltouch X10 is the first instant-read I’ve tested with embedded magnets. It’s a clever idea, but in my experience the magnets weren’t strong enough to hold the unit to my pellet grill. If strong magnetic attachment is a priority, the Typhur InstaProbe has more powerful magnets. The X10 does include a hanging loop at the end, which is a useful alternative for hooking it on your grill or a tool rack.
Hold Button
I especially like the hold button. It locks the displayed temperature so you can take readings in awkward or hard-to-see spots, remove the probe, and read the temperature comfortably. On busy cooks—multiple briskets, pork butts, or racks of ribs—this feature is extremely handy and saves you from repositioning meat or straining to read the display while the probe is inserted. The hold function should be standard on more instant reads in my opinion.

Price
The Finaltouch X10 is an exceptional value. Its speed and accuracy are comparable to higher-priced models like the Typhur InstaProbe and Thermapen ONE, but it typically sells for around $70 versus $100+ for those premium units. For many grills and pitmasters, the X10 will meet daily needs while saving you money.
Durability
The X10 feels solid and well-built, with a pleasant heft. Our unit survived a two-foot drop during testing. The lightly textured plastic exterior resists scratches and improves grip—useful when handling greasy hands at the grill. It also carries an IP67 rating, so it can handle dishwashing and brief exposure to rain without worry.
Who Is It For?
If you’re ready to upgrade from a slower, less accurate instant read thermometer, the ChefsTemp Finaltouch X10 is worth considering. It offers many useful features and strong performance at a reasonable price.
Do You Really Need An Instant Read Thermometer?
Strictly speaking, no—you can cook good food with practice, ingredients, and heat. That said, an instant-read thermometer is one of the most important tools for consistent grilling. It gives you confidence, helps beginners make better decisions, and dramatically improves results for items like burgers, chicken, and fish. For many home cooks, an instant-read thermometer makes it much easier to produce reliably great results.
Final Thoughts
I like the ChefsTemp Finaltouch X10 and consider it a great value. If budget weren’t a concern, I’d still choose premium options like the Thermapen ONE or Typhur InstaProbe, but for most users the X10 delivers excellent performance for the price.
