Happy April Fools’ Day! Do you have any pranks planned this year?
Today I’m sharing a classic What I Ate Wednesday post documenting a typical day of college meals. I enjoy these posts because every day looks a little different. In the past I’ve posted a “Bottomless Pit” WIAW, a Christmas Eve WIAW, and a WIAW from when I was at home. Yesterday I wasn’t as hungry as usual, so I ate a bit less overall, but there was still plenty of tasty food.
8:00: About 15 minutes before my run I had a bowl of strawberries. I can’t wait for berry season to arrive—fresh berries are one of my favorite spring treats.
9:30: After a 7.3-mile run with friends (7:55 pace), I had a warm bowl of oatmeal with raisins. I made it with 1/2 cup quick oats, 1/2 cup almond milk and 1/2 cup water, microwaved in a large glass bowl for 90 seconds. I stirred in a little extra milk and a handful of raisins before digging in—simple and satisfying post-run fuel.
2:00: During my English class I snacked on a large bag of green grapes. I snapped a photo when I packed my lunch that morning.
3:15: Finally time for the rest of my lunch. On Tuesdays and Thursdays my schedule often pushes lunch very early or very late, and yesterday it ended up being late. I wasn’t overly hungry, but I enjoyed a turkey sandwich made with Boar’s Head maple honey turkey and homemade honey mustard on a sandwich thin, plus carrots with hummus.
6:30: For dinner I had some leftover pasta while eating outside with friends. The day was beautifully sunny, which made the meal feel even better.
9:00: Back in my room I finished off the other half of the cookie dough cheesecake I’d had on Sunday. Somehow it tasted even better the second time around.
I snacked less and ate fewer vegetables than I normally do, but overall it was a delicious day of eating—and I already miss that cheesecake.
Questions for you:
Favorite kind of berry?
If I had to choose: blackberries, raspberries, strawberries—and now blueberries too since I’m no longer allergic. Sorry, that’s a tough question to answer definitively.
Best thing you’ve eaten recently?
Have you ever pulled off a great prank or been pranked?
