Ingredients

  • Spices: garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper (or any spices you prefer)

How to make

Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C).

In a small bowl, combine the cornstarch and seasonings; set aside.

Remove the tofu from its packaging and pat it dry with a kitchen or paper towel.

Using your hands, tear the tofu into roughly 1-inch chunks. Texture and uneven edges are fine — they help the coating stick and get crunchy. Place the pieces in a large mixing bowl.

Add the oil and toss the tofu until it’s evenly coated.

Sprinkle the cornstarch and seasoning mixture over the tofu and toss until each piece is well coated.

Transfer the tofu to the air fryer basket in a single layer if possible. Cook for 12–15 minutes, shaking or tossing the basket every 4–5 minutes so the nuggets don’t stick together. They’re done when golden brown with crisp edges.

  • 1 block extra firm tofu
  • 2 Tbsp corn starch
  • 1 Tbsp neutral oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • black pepper, to taste

Instructions 

  • Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (375°F if your model runs hot).
  • Whisk together cornstarch and seasonings in a small bowl; set aside.
  • Pat the tofu dry and tear into 1-inch chunks; place in a large bowl.
  • Add oil and toss to coat, then add the cornstarch-seasoning mix and toss again until evenly coated.
  • Arrange the tofu in the air fryer basket and cook 12–15 minutes, shaking every 4–5 minutes. Nuggets are done when golden and crisp.
